Giants Thoughts After Two Weeks

Reese/McAdoo - USA Today

Week 2 of the NFL season is over and the Giants are 0-2. They have scored 13 FUCKING POINTS COMBINED in two games. Why are they 0-2? How have they only scored 13? I'll give my thoughts. They are pretty simple thoughts, and many that you've probably seen. But here's my take.

Ben McAdoo is NOT a head coach

Problem is, he is the head coach. This guy is an offensive coordinator. Just how it is. Until I see he can actually coach, my opinion will not change. As a head coach, you are responsible for so many things. Watching the playclock to see if a timeout is needed (don't tell me that's all on the QB, it's at least 50/50), eyes on defense, offense, and special teams, even if you're not calling the plays plus other responsibilities. Ben McAdoo is over here calling the plays on top of that. Now his playcalling blows, and he isn't paying enough attention to things on the field, thus throwing all blame on his QB for playclock issues. Remember when the team was putting up 20+ points 13 times in 2015? When McAdoo was the offensive coordinator and Coughlin was the head coach? Yeah. Now it's been 8 straight games they haven't scored 20 points. Give up the playcalling. Focus on the game and let Sullivan call the plays. I'd rather get 17 rabies shots than watch this pitiful offense.

#FreeDarkwa

I have been preaching this since 2015, and honestly I've been relatively relaxed about him not starting due to injury history and what not. But now this team has ZERO FUCKING EXCUSES to not start Darkwa. What Perkins has shown me is that he's afraid of contact. Does a lot of dancing and refuses to lower his shoulder. Guess what?  With this line you need to hit the hole hard, fast, and with authority. Darkwa is averaging 5.2 yards per carry, Paul Perkins is averaging 1.9 ... are you kidding me McAdoo? And when Darkwa gets his opportunity, gets 10+ yards on a carry, they run a fucking playaction fake/fake end around and get sacked. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT PLAYCALL? Week one Darkwa ran the ball for 12 yards, when Dallas was only up 6-0 and it took McAdoo over TWENTY OFFENSIVE PLAYS to run him again. Unbelievable. Watching Perkins try to run with this line is like watching a mouse go through a maze when there's no cheese within 500 miles.

Offensive Line

Biggest issue of this team by far and it starts at the top. Jerry Reese and the rest of management have fucked this team and the end of Eli Manning's career. I'm not kidding when I say this, I'd be surprised if Eli isn't hurt against the Eagles. Division game, these guys will be gunning for Eli, and against little resistance. "But they've drafted Flowers, Pugh, Richburg in the 1st and 2nd rounds! They've tried!" Guess what? They missed on Flowers. I understand he was forced into the LT position his rookie year with Beatty injury, but he's a 9th OVERALL pick. They have given him one too many chances and the team is paying for it.

For Jerry Reese to look at the OL last year and say, "hey ya know what? I think doing absolutely nothing on the offensive line, drafting a tight end, and signing a wide receiver will be great!" is absolutely ridiculous and a fireable offense. But hey, they drafted Adam Bisnowaty after trading up for him in the 6th round! Bisnowaty is on the practice squad. Now Hart, the starting RT and a 7th round draft in 2015 is hurt. Pugh moved to RT, Brett Jones who was a Canadian Football League CENTER is starting at LG. I don't think John Jerry is startable anywhere else in the league (maybe Seattle), and he's the starting RG.

You have to do something with Flowers. Can it get worse? How could it get worse? Throw a gumball at Ziggy Ansah and there'd be more resistance than I saw on multiple snaps Monday night. Help him with ELLISON or a chip from the RB, Move Pugh there. And since the team thinks Fluker is incapable of playing tackle, but SOME HOW thinks Flowers can play there, maybe you put Fluker at LG with Wheeler at RT. You FIGURE SOMETHING THE FUCK OUT. McAdoo, Reese, whoever else, you get paid a LOT of money to make these decisions. Do something right.

Brandon Marshall

The Giants brass made the decision that the team needed a big body threat, especially near the endzone. Marshall was cut by the Jets and there he was. The 6'4" wide receiver was exactly what the Giants wanted. Now, I won't get on Marshall for week 1, because Eli barely looked to him. But on Monday night, he not only dropped a PERFECTLY placed ball a play before the punt return for a TD, he ALSO tried to basket catch a ball in the endzone. Why? Why are you trying to basket catch a ball when the cornerback is 4 inches shorter than you are? He's not up to your knees. You let that ball drop to your chest and he hits it away. Be smarter. Play bigger.

Eli Apple

Giants had the opportunity to draft Tunsil who was practically locked for the #1 pick until gas masks, weed, and a video. They got scared and drafted Apple instead. I've been on video stating that I wanted Tunsil or Hargreaves. Didn't go with either. "But Hargreaves sucked last year!" Do you see who he was going against? Julio, Cooper, Crabtree. Jenkins is locked on #1s, and Apple gets the remainder. Dallas picked on Apple (12 times, 10 receptions 123 yards and a TD). Lions picked on Apple. That touchdown that Apple gave up was absolutely atrocious to watch. Guy had NO idea where the ball was. If Eli Apple doesn't get his shit together, teams can keep drives going on 3rd downs. Just look to Eli Apple's guy and deliver the ball.

In Conclusion

If the Giants don't win Sunday, it is a STEEP hill to climb. They'd be 0-2 in the division, 0-3 in the conference with Bucs (Noah Spence & crew) next, then Chargers (Bosa, Engram & crew), then FLY to Denver (Von Miller, etc), and fly back home to play Seahawks.

This season could be over before it even began and the Giants could start 0-7 before their bye. Simple as that. Big changes need to be made.
